Lena Trotsko

I met Lena Trotsko, a fashion designer at Miss Russian SF last year. Her bright and authentic patterns (for example Russian dolls matreshki) got my interest, so we finally found some time to sit down and chat about her collections.

O: How did you become a designer? Was it something you dreamed about since childhood?

L: I wanted to be a designer since childhood, when I had my first doll Barbi – all the clothes I sewed for her herself. I graduated colleges and universities, participated in numerous competitions and exhibitions, and the first part in the fashion week in 2011 at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Russia.

O: Where are you based? Why are you expanding for US market?

L: I am based in Moscow, Russia. I have the studio and boutique there. This is the third year I promote my brand in California, take part in Fashion Week Sacramento, and do my own shows in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

O: What is special about your designs and work?

L: My casual line is made of natural fabrics and an exclusive mix of prints. I’m in love with local cotton and it’s stunning colors. I create an interesting models of shirts that have conquered the whole of Russia, and now they are in San Francisco, Sacramento, Seattle and Los Angeles!!!

O: Tell us about Haute Couture and ready to wear collections?

L: In addition to ready to wear Collection, I present couture shows once a year. Mostly those are creative collections inspired by the film or story.

O: Are there any celebrity clients?

L: Of course I have celebrity clients, but so far only in Russian. My brand has been around for 7 years and during that time not only friends fell in love, but it became widespread among the celebs. My customers were Tatiana Kotova (group Via Gra), Reflex Group, Love Stories, Anfisa Chekhova, Alina Artz, Maxim and many others!
